Club Covid–19 Secure Rules (Indoor bowls)

1. General

  1. Do not come to the club if you or any member of your household show any signs of a cold or flu-like symptoms, in particular a continuous cough, high temperature or loss or change to your sense of smell or taste (follow Gov. UK self-isolation guidelines).
  2. Non-playing members or spectators will not be allowed in the bowls hall.
  3. If travelling by car travel on your own or with members from your household or support bubble only. It is not possible to practice effective social distancing in small vehicles. Do not arrive more than 10 minutes before your allocated session time.
  4. Dress appropriately before you arrive to avoid the need to change clothes – change shoes by the rink before and after play. Until further notice the changing rooms will remain closed and there will be limited access to the remainder of the premises.
  5. At all times social distancing rules must be strictly adhered to; you must remain two metres apart from other members (who are not part of your household or support bubble) at all times.
  6. Face coverings must be worn on entering the premises and kept on until you leave. You may remove the face covering while playing bowls or sitting in the bar area.
  7. In line with the NHS test & trace service you will be required to give your contact details; these will be kept for a period of 21 days.
  8. A Steward will be present to help you and will have full authority to decide any issues that may arise during the session.
  9. Failure to comply with the guidelines may result in suspension.

2. Entering & Exiting the Premises

  1. Bowlers only to enter the premises via the concourse door in the bottom car park (ramp). The door will be opened by the duty Steward 10 minutes before a session starts.
  2. Bar customers only to enter the premises via the main entrance in the top car park.
  3. Please follow any one-way systems inside the building and use hand sanitisers regularly.
  4. To exit the premises please use the fire door in the middle of the building (by toilets).

3. Hygiene

  1. Hand sanitiser and cleaning products will be available for cleaning hands and equipment.
  2. Wash or sanitise your hands before and after play.
  3. Before and after play always ensure that equipment is sanitised and cleaned.
  4. Avoid using the toilet if possible. Always wipe and clean down any surfaces you may have touched with cleaning products provided – taps, door handles etc. and wash hands thoroughly.
  5. Bring own drinking water when the bar is closed. You may use the vending machine and please place the cup holders in the bowl provided after use. Do not share food items, cups, plates etc. with anyone else.

4. Booking Rinks

  1. Bowls must be pre-booked: -
    • Rinks booked via online rink booking system found on our website Wymondhamdell.com.
      If not online contact either Jean Webb or Averyl and Keith Richards
    • Monday muddle contact Geoff Batley
    • Wednesday muddle contact Mike Bean
      – not the office – by phone (answer machines available) 10.00am-3pm.
    • Do not turn up for a session if you have not received confirmation of your booking.
    • No casual walk-ins permitted.
    • Should a rink not be needed please remember to cancel (otherwise you may be charged the rink fee).
  2. Bookings for next day bowling will close at 3.00pm (15:00 hrs) the day before. Bookings made after this time may result in cancellation.
  3. A maximum of 6 players per rink will be allowed.
  4. Rink fees for a session will be £3.00 or 1 token per player.

5. Playing the Game

  1. Before play begins Skips must agree and nominate players to perform: -
    • Sanitise all equipment before and after play.
    • One skip to place the jack and retrieve mat.
    • One lead to place the mat.
    • Two players to handle ditch markers (one each end).
  2. Social distancing rules must be strictly adhered to; you must remain two metres apart from other bowlers (who are not part of your household or support bubble) at all times. Use the bank if & when required to maintain social distancing.
  3. Do not shake hands or have any personal contact with another player (unless you are from the same household or support bubble) and avoid shouting or raising your voice when facing anyone.
  4. Do not touch or pick up another player’s bowls (please use your feet to move bowls and jacks).
  5. Do not use scoreboards and use only spray chalk. If ditch markers are used ensure they are handled by the same two nominated players.
  6. To play triples whilst maintaining social distancing the ‘T’ (red) has been moved up the rink 2m.
  7. The nominated lead will place the mat for both teams on an agreed position, whilst maintaining the 23m minimum requirement.
  8. One jack is to be kept at each end. The nominated skip will place the jack on an agreed length for both teams.
  9. When changing ends walk up the rink in an anti-clockwise (right) direction within the rink boundary.
  10. If a scorecard is used, it should be retained by one player using their own pen.
  11. Should measuring be necessary, players (or marker if used) must use their own equipment, avoiding contact with the players’ bowls & jack.
  12. At the end of the session a bell will sound, after which the jack must not be delivered. When a second bell sounds all players must leave the green.
  13. After your game please change your shoes and immediately leave the premises (unless using the bar), taking your bowls and shoes home with you.
  14. Once you are at home remember to wash your hands.

6. Bar and Lounge Users

  1. In line with the NHS Test & Trace service you are required to give your contact details; these will be kept for 21 days.
  2. Do not move tables or chairs. Observe social distancing rules at all times, especially when queuing at bar. People from different households must not meet in groups of larger than 6 and must not interact with any other group.
  3. Do not lean on or touch bar surfaces.
  4. Only staff to collect and return empty glasses to the bar.
  5. Failure to observe safety measures will result in service not being provided.
